Koinonia is a Greek word best translated as a community. The term denotes having all things in common or a community of shared life. It is being one together. Pastor John often reminds us that we are better and stronger together and that we “need” each other. We will face many trials and tough times in our lives and when those times come, it is an amazing feeling knowing your community of faith stands with you.
In addition to the larger community of faith being the church, we believe that even more community and closeness develops in smaller classes and small groups. It is in these communities where we discover the greatest spiritual growth and maturity. This is the reason so many large churches spend so much time trying to act like small churches by breaking up into smaller units. It is in these small communities we find greater love, encouragement, accountability, and spiritual deepening of our souls.
